Aggies remain third in both polls

The Associated Press and Coaches Polls both remained the same at the top Sunday, with Texas A&M remaining third behind Ohio State and Indiana, who are two weeks away from a clash in the Big Ten Championship Game. The Aggies received the only two first place votes in the Coaches Poll that did not go to Ohio State, while only receiving one in the AP Poll.

The College Football Playoff poll will be updated Tuesday, with A&M likely remaining third there as well.

Dominguez shoots the lights out as Aggies rout Manhattan

Texas A&M’s football team wasn’t the only group to win in a rout this weekend. The Aggie men’s basketball team set some 3-point shooting records while blowing out Manhattan 109-68 Friday night at Reed Arena.

The man of the hour was Spanish import Ruben Dominguez, who scored 30 points on 10 of 14 shooting — all from 3-point range. The previous record for 3s in a game was 8, held by the trio of Bernard King, Jerald Brown, and Josh Carter.

The Aggies also set a team record with 18 3s in the game, beating the previous record of 16 against Savannah State in 2017.

Women’s hoops stays undefeated, beating VCU in Hawaii

The Texas A&M woman’s basketball team won its fourth game in a row to start the season, dispatching Virginia Commonweath 78-66 in the first of three games in the North Shore Showcase Laie, Hawaii.

Ny’Ceara Pryor was one rebound away from a triple-double for the Aggies, totaling 18 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in the game. She also added six steals.

Fatmata Janneh pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds — the most for an Aggie this season — and scored 9 points. Janae Kent added a career high 17 points for the Aggies, who shot better than 61% from the floor in the second half.

Volleyball sweeps Vanderbilt in SEC quarterfinals

The No. 6 Texas A&M women’s volleyball continued their hot streak Sunday, sweeping Vanderbilt 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 27-25). The Aggies, seeded second in the SEC Tournament, are now 23-3 on the season.

Logan Lednicky paced the Aggies with 14 kills, while Maddie Waak tied a program postseason record with 40 assists. Ifenna Cos-Okpalla had four blocks, making her the first Aggie since 1985 with three-straight 150 block seasons.

The sweep of Vanderbilt sets up a massive clash with third-seeded Texas, who lost to A&M 3-2 (25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 19-25, 15-13) at Reed Arena on Halloween night. The loss snapped then-No. 2 Texas’ 18-match winning streak. The rematch will occur Monday night at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Ga., at 7:30 p.m.
