UCLA picked up its first 2026 men’s basketball commitment Monday, as Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove forward Javonte Floyd pledged coming off an official visit.

Floyd, who announced his decision on Instagram, was spotted courtside Saturday during pregame warmups before UCLA’s 74-63 win over Oregon at Pauley Pavilion.

Floyd picked UCLA over Alabama-Birmingham after making it out to Westwood for a weekend trip that had been previously rescheduled.

As a junior, the 6-foot-9 post player was named first-team all-region and the region’s defensive player of the year.

In recent years, UCLA has gone heavy on transfer portal additions. While the Bruins have been in the mix for top players around Southern California, head coach Mick Cronin has put more value in older players he can plug in and play immediately.
