UCLA names Max Feldman as new assistant GM for men's basketball

Max Feldman is the newest member of UCLA’s basketball staff, head coach Mick Cronin announced Wednesday. The 2022 Illinois grad will take over as the program’s new assistant general manager.
College athletics continues to change, and men’s basketball is changing with it.
There is an added emphasis on roster building in the revenue-sharing era, and Feldman will play a key role in that moving forward.
“We’re excited to add Max to our program in a role that can assist us from a recruiting and roster management standpoint,” Cronin said in a statement provided by the team. “Max has worked within the game at the grassroots level and has really impressed us with his knowledge of players, talent evaluation and relationships across the industry.
“He will be an asset for our coaching staff and we are looking forward to having him with us in Westwood.”
Feldman’s past work at the grassroots level
The new Bruins’ assistant general manager comes to Westwood after serving as director of scouting for MADE Hoops. The company organizes youth basketball events, giving Feldman insight into the future talent coming down the pipeline.
That experience should help him as he takes over his new role on Cronin’s staff. The UCLA head coach does not have an official general manager. However, the support staff around Cronin features five assistants. Additionally, director of basketball administration Doug Erickson and director of player personnel T.J. Wolf play important roles.
Feldman will “serve as a liaison to the university’s compliance and branding arms,” according to the team. In addition to his work as director of scouting, Feldman was a scouting analyst for Made Hoops. He also served as an intern for Priority Sports Agency.
Having experience in several areas will be important for college basketball staffs in the revenue-sharing era. Feldman seems to check plenty of boxes in that regard.
The Bruins head into the 2025-26 season with a revamped roster and plenty of expectations. UCLA has focused heavily on transfer recruiting in recent years and is still without a commitment in the 2026 class. However, the Bruins remain in the picture with multiple high-level seniors.
