UCLA hit the reset button during its bye week. DeShaun Foster is out and Tim Skipper is in as the interim head coach. The extra time away from the field has allowed the Bruins to regroup with nine games left to play.

It is clear the UCLA offense needs to find some answers. The Bruins currently rank 130th out of 134 eligible FBS teams in scoring offense. UCLA is 111th in total offense through three games.

Something needs to spark the group. Running back Anthony Frias II believes the running back group can be part of the solution.

“Just having that chip on our shoulder as far as we all believe in each other,” Frias said Tuesday. “And, I believe in the team, in the room. We’re all great running backs. All seven of us are really great, really deep. We could do a lot of great things.

“It’s just playing fast and executing, and proving ourselves right. Not proving other people wrong, but just proving ourselves right.”

Frias has pride in playing for the Bruins

Though he isn’t from Southern California, Frias has a bond with the Rose Bowl. He traveled to Pasadena for a Rose Bowl matchup between Stanford and Iowa in 2016. The Turlock native made a sign saying that he would one day play at the historic venue.

The process eventually came full circle when Frias joined the Bruins making the Rose Bowl his new home stadium last year.

“Actually being able to play at the Rose Bowl every weekend on the home games, it’s a dream come true,” he said. “I’m truly blessed to be able to do that, and I’m grateful for everything.”
