Q&A with Chatfield quarterback Cash Williams
What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“For off-season workout my teams and I have 3 hour practices Monday-Thursday with speed training on Mondays and Wednesdays. I lift every day while trying to get field work training in as much as I can throughout the week. Overall just trying my hardest to put on weight and be as prepared as possible by the start of the season.”
What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“Since last season I think that my speed and athletic ability has improved the most. I ran track during the spring. My best time was an 11.1 100m. Along with that I think since last season besides my speed I am just a lot more confident with a season of play underneath my belt and ready for a big junior season.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think since I’ve been at Chatfield before every season we are extremely doubted by everybody and we have proven people wrong each year. Same story this year, we lost a lot of seniors and a lot of people don’t think we will be able to compete but, I know my guys and my coaches and that definitely isn’t the case. We have a big chip on our shoulders and are ready to prove people wrong.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“I think every year Columbine is the game we have circled on our schedules and that will most definitely be the game to be at this year. Especially for me after I got taken out early in that game due to injury, I can’t wait to play this one fully.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Landon Kalsbeck at Dakota Ridge definitely. I’ve known him for quite some time and I have a lot of respect for him. He’s definitely someone we pay attention to when watching film.”

Q&A with Roosevelt quarterback Jasiah Ramirez
What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“What I’ve been doing is working on mechanics, reputation through QB drills and the basics because that’s what makes you better in my opinion. I feel like I didn’t have much time of that last year, I was more focused on the IQ of becoming a starting varsity quarterback. But now I’ve gotten bigger and stronger by putting in work on the field and working EDDs every day and every week.”
What do you feel you have improved on most this off-season?
“Something I’ve improved on is my arm strength, summer workouts have been a big part of that for sure. I’ve been slinging the ball to a couple of my guys twice a week and it’s improved my power and my long balls for sure.”
How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“I feel like we can make a run this year, obviously the media, other teams, and so called “experts” count Roosevelt off. But we’re feeling pretty confident. This senior class I’ve been a part of since 6th grade hasn’t been more hungry for a 2nd ring than ever, I feel like we’re more conditioned, more stronger physically and mentally and more prepared than last year and can feel the taste the glory of champions come December, but we take it one week at a time and have that 1-0 mindset.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“Toughest competition will have to say Windsor, they’re a great coached up team, coming down from 4a to 3a they got the better of us last season on our home turf and made it to the semis after getting knocked out by Pomona. One of the fast and physical teams out in 3A right now, their tackle committing to Oklahoma (congrats to that). It’ll be one of the games of the week for sure at their place, pretty sure we’re their HoCo Game so it should be a fun Week 5 game. I’m excited.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Toughest player will for sure go to Deacon Schmitt, I mean he’s all you want in an Offensive Tackle. Big, physical and smart, but we got the guys to stop him and the others on the D-Line. I have full trust and strength when things start to crumple up and get interesting.”
