Q&A with Conifer wide receiver Solomon Washer

Colorado Prep Report caught up with Conifer wide receiver Solomon Washer in this article now!
What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“We just [started] fully padded practices and I have been putting in work in the weight room this offseason. Coach is getting us in shape right now for the 7’s our team is doing this summer and some team camps. We made the playoffs last year and lost a ton of seniors, so our coach is really trying to push us to be better than last year. Working out for college coaches all over the country is going to take up most of my summer.”
What do you feel you have improved on most since last football season?
“I have improved on becoming a better route runner and understanding the influence routes have on defenses and how to open. Last year I ran my routes a lot more robotic, and it was easier for the defense to understand where I was going and wanted to go. My coach played Wide Receiver in Europe and greatly helped me improve my route running. He also taught me how to get off press coverage easier and how being more patient can get you more open then running a robotic route as fast as you can.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I believe if we keep working and building a strong culture within our team, we will make the playoffs and do better than we did last year. We lost a lot of seniors like I said but we have a lot of playmakers on our team who played some last year and are committed to putting in the work.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“The toughest competition on our schedule is Green Mountain. We did not play the best against them last season and lost. They also graduated a lot of seniors, and I feel like we have a good chance of beating them this year, but we are going to have to play very well.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“I think the toughest player we will face next year is Corbin Wade on Green Mountain. He is a big kid and is bigger than most of our linemen and he had a long pass on us last year so I would say he will be the best player we play against.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I really want to play football in college. I have always wanted to since I was little.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I just recently got an offer from Fort Lewis. Also, many local schools like Colorado School of Mines and CSU Pueblo and other schools like Montana State, UPenn, Wyoming and Columbia are out of state.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I would say the school that is recruiting me the hardest is the Colorado School of Mines. They seemed very interested ever since I went to one of their camps a couple weeks ago and they also came and visited me at my school, and I have stayed in touch with multiple of their coaches.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“Yes, several so far this offseason. Montana State, CU, Western Colorado, CSU, Colorado School of Mines.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“Yes, plenty of trips this summer, nearly every weekend. Some highlights will be a trip out east to visit and workout for Ivy League schools, Wyoming, and all of the Colorado universities.”
What camps are you planning to do this summer?
“I am going to a camp like every weekend. Montana State, CSU, CU, School of Mines, Western, Wyoming, UPenn, Columbia, Mesa, Northern CO, CSU Pueblo, and a few more.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Yes, I am originally from Louisiana and watched LSU all the time. I still have multiple sweatshirts I wear from LSU and my uncle also works there so that was my favorite college.”
