Do you have plans for more trips soon?

Q&A with Regis kicker/catcher Jack Manthey
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Definitely! I’m very passionate about kicking so football is driving my college recruiting journey currently, but if I’m able to find a home where I might also be able to play baseball I would be open to that.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I received 75+ invitations to summer camps from D1, D2 and D3 programs, and I’m in conversation with a few dozen of those schools. But it’s still pretty early for kickers as specialists are usually later in the recruiting process.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“Right now I would probably say Cornell, Yale and Colorado School of Mines.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“Yes, over the last few years I’ve visited a lot of schools with my Regis Jesuit Baseball team, and also with my parents while traveling and going to camps. I really enjoy checking out different campuses, seeing their football and baseball facilities, and just getting a feel for what it might be like to go to school there. I think that’s been a really valuable experience.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“My trips for the next few months will be based around camps, and any private workouts coaches want to set up. I also play baseball for Regis Jesuit and we have summer tournaments, so I might be able to visit a few schools if it works with our game schedule.”

What camps are you planning to do this summer?
“UTEP, Northwestern, Western Michigan, Purdue, Miami OH, Rice, Colorado, Yale, Cornell and Colorado School of Mines. There are so many more camps I want to attend but it’s just not feasible with camps sharing the same dates, plus the travel. And, as a kicker I need to make sure I schedule in some recovery time.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Probably Notre Dame. My cousin (Patrick Hodan) played soccer there and won a National Championship for the Irish. His teammate was Brandon Aubrey, who is now one of my favorite NFL kickers.”

But overall, I didn’t grow up with a strong preference for any one school.”
