Q&A with Roosevelt quarterback Jasiah Ramirez
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I would be interested in any level of college football. Don’t got too much film out there but once the season comes around, I’ll try the best of my ability to show the coaches of the next level of what I can do.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Couple colleges have hit me up, Hartnell College’s talked about our Team Camp here and there, Western Colorado is another one. Love that program down there in Gunnison, it’s like what we do over here in Johnstown. Same culture, same pride in the game. Hopefully more will come to me in the future.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“The school that’s keeping up with me would have to be Hartnell. Pretty cool what they got going up there. Great program and grateful to not only hit myself up and talk about the process but to talk about it with my own teammates. Love that, to put Roosevelt on the map and to see what we can accomplish after we all graduate.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“Trips as in camps and team camps have been Western, Wyoming camp with me and Noah Lucero. Me and him had that connection up in Laramie, we got progressive reps up there and got better. Loved that one.”
Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“As of right now, I have no plans for college trips. Plans for now are to hit up more coaches and to get noticed more, then the trips will come around then. Trusting the process as of right now.”
Have you done any camps this off-season? How do you feel you performed?
“The one at the University of Wyoming was a big one. Sparked something in me with the competition there, the energy and the drills they have over there are impactful for sure. Got to throw to some of the best around the state and others. It was a very successful camp. Coach Jay Sawvel sure does know how to throw great camps out there for us athletes to compete and to get better.”
Do you have any plans for camps ahead?
“As of right now no plans for upcoming camps. Even if I did, I feel like those are distractions sometimes especially at this time of the offseason. Just got to focus on our own guys and complete the goal we have set for the end of the season which is a ring.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Favorite college growing up, probably had to be any Colorado team. CU, CSU, Air Force, UNC, it wouldn’t matter, I would always attend those games, look up to those players and had a dream to become one of those players myself.”
