Deion Sanders after Colorado win vs. Wyoming: 'I'm not happy with the finish'

Colorado defeated Wyoming 37-20 during Week 4 to improve to 2-2 on the season. Though, the Buffaloes were outscored 17-15 in the second half.
Head coach Deion Sanders voiced his frustration at that fact. After the game, Coach Prime called out his team for letting their foot off the gas after building an early lead.
“I’m happy with the results, but I’m not happy with the finish,” Sanders said. “I told our young men too much, haha and hehe on the sideline when we got the lead. And hats off to the opposition. I mean, they did a wonderful job getting back in that game and playing their butts off with a no-quit attitude.
“Much love to their head coach and the coaching staff. They came here and played their butts off, and they did not give up. And I wish we could have a little more killer instinct to really put teams away, like we’re capable of doing.”
After a scoreless opening quarter for both teams, Colorado scored three touchdowns in the second quarter alone. Leading 21-13 at halftime, the Buffaloes even scored the opening touchdown of the third quarter, leading 28-7 three plays into the second half.
Over the next three Colorado possessions, the Buffaloes were forced to punt, lost a fumble and missed a field goal. All the while, Wyoming was attempting to march its way back into the game. Scoring 17 unanswered, the Cowboys did their best to make Colorado uncomfortable in the second half.
The Buffaloes welcomed QB Kaidon Salter back to the starting lineup, and he impressed during the opportunity. Salter passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another during the win. Salter is the team’s leading rusher with 153 yards and three touchdowns on the young season.
Colorado is still trying to find its identity without Shedeur Sanders, now in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, under center. Despite the impressive performance, Coach Prime believes Salter’s game is still a work in progress.
“He hasn’t reached that potential yet, but he’s getting more and more comfortable with everything,” Sanders said. “I think the offensive line only surrendered one sack, which is tremendous, and my hats off to them.”
Colorado will match up against No. 25 BYU on Saturday inside Folsom Field. Kickoff is slated for 10:15 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN. Including Saturday’s game against the Cougars, Colorado will play ranked teams in three consecutive weeks (TCU, Iowa State).
