Colorado head coach Deion Sanders questioned his fellow Big 12 schools and their honesty during weekly injury reports. This comes ahead of Colorado’s matchup against Arizona — who has just one player listed on the injury report compared to 20 for the Buffaloes.

“Why do we always — like, we always have 100 guys (on the injury report) and the other team, I look over and they have two guys?” Sanders asked during Colorado football’s coaches show on Thursday. “Are we the only ones being honest?”

Sanders said the last thing he wants to be associated with is dishonesty. After all, he comes from the NFL where weekly injury reports are mandatory. That’s why his team consults with the Colorado training staff on a daily basis to update their injury report.

“Coming from the league, I’m thinking the same thought process,” Sanders said. “Because really, honestly, and I hate to see it, this is all about gambling. That’s all they want to know who’s hurt so they can put a different line on the game, or whatever. Which don’t make sense to me, helping people gamble on the game by reporting things.

“We’re straight-up. We tell you everything. Who’s hurt and who maybe was probable, all the different categories. But I can’t believe we’re the only ones every week — like, we’re tripling our opponents in injuries.”

There are several teams this week who have sizable injury reports like Arizona State and Iowa State, as well as Texas Tech. However, having just one player listed as dealing with an injury heading into Week 10 smells a bit fishy to Coach Prime.

It should be noted that Arizona featured 13 players on their Week 8 injury report (they were on a bye during Week 9) against Houston and 14 the week before against BYU. At the same time, six teams throughout the Big 12 have five or less players listed on their injury report this week.

“Let’s tell the truth, and we do,” Sanders said. “I guess everybody else is lying because there’s no way nobody’s that healthy.”

Kickoff between Colorado and Arizona is set for 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night. FS1 will carry the national broadcast.
