Cal hosts Texas Southern in home opener
It is game day in Berkeley! The Bears are back home this week and will open the home slate with their first ever meeting against Texas Southern. Cal last faced an HBCU in 2015 and came away with a 73-14 victory over Grambling State. Quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele has generated plenty of buzz for the Bears coming off his performance last week in his debut.
Now Cal will look to keep that momentum going in its home opener. Saturday’s game will be the first of three consecutive contests that keep the Bears in the state of California. So it will be a good time to keep building on the first week without having to make any long road trips ahead of ACC play.
