Cal to debut updated gold jersey for Week 3 matchup against Minnesota

Cal will be sporting a new look Saturday when it welcomes Minnesota to California Memorial Stadium. The Bears announced Thursday that they will wear an updated gold jersey for the matchup. The jersey is part of a wider “gold out” promotion for the team this week.
The program is encouraging fans to wear gold for the contest which will match up the Golden Bears and the Golden Gophers. The jersey color is not new for the team. However, the Bears have not worn it in the last couple seasons since moving back to Nike as their apparel sponsor.
The gold jersey will be paired with a blue helmet and blue pants with gold gloves being used as an accent color. Cal released a video Thursday to unveil the new look with players TJ Bush Jr., T.J. Bollers and Kendrick Raphael showing off the uniform.
Cal to give out promotional T-shirt Saturday
In addition to wearing their updated jerseys, the Bears will also have a promotional gold T-shirt as part of the experience. General manager Ron Rivera announced Thursday that the program will pass out 4,000 shirts to students with a “Rep The Bay” slogan printed across the front.
“This is Bear Territory and we want everybody to know it,” Rivera said in a video announcing the promotion.
Head coach Justin Wilcox was appreciative of the student section following Cal’s win over Texas Southern on Saturday. Students filled nearly their entire portion of the stadium in the home opener.
“The student body was awesome today,” Wilcox said after the 35-3 win. “So thank you to all the Golden Bear students out there that came to the game.”
Cal will square off with Minnesota on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. PT in a matchup of two 2-0 teams.
