WATCH: Justin Wilcox discusses Cal's 34-0 loss to San Diego State

Cal was shut out for the first time since 2019 on Saturday night. The 34-0 loss to San Diego State featured a number of miscues leaving Justin Wilcox ready to regroup ahead of ACC play. Quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele threw two interceptions and was held without a touchdown for the first time this season.
Most of the problems came on the offensive side of the ball. In addition to throwing two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, Cal also had a fumble returned for a score as well. The offensive line allowed four sacks and didn’t allow Sagapolutele to feel completely comfortable in the pocket.
Maybe most important of all were multiple drops by receivers in key spots in the game. It put more pressure on the defense and made for a nightmare scenario for Wilcox’s team.
Now the Bears will regroup and get ready for the start of ACC play. Cal will face Boston College next week on the road marking the first long road trip of the season.
Wilcox made it clear in his postgame press conference Saturday night that the Bears will have to make several improvements right away to get back on the winning track.
The loss to San Diego State came with plenty of contributing factors. And, Wilcox expressed his displeasure with the performance following the game.
