Arkansas OL Fernando Carmona named to Outland Trophy watch list

Arkansas senior offensive lineman Fernando Carmona was one of 50 names on the Outland Trophy preseason watch list by the Football Writers Association of America that was released on Tuesday.
Named after former player, coach and administrator Dr. John H. Outland, the Outland Trophy is awarded annually to college football’s best interior lineman.
Carmona was a crucial part of the offensive trenches in his first season as a Hog last fall after transferring from San Jose State, starting all 13 games. He was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice (Sept. 2, 2024, Oct. 7, 2024) and selected Third-Team All-SEC by the Coaches Poll.
He helped paved the way at left tackle for a Razorback offense that ranked 10th nationally averaging 459.5 total yards per game, including 274.7 yards through the air which was the 18th-best in the country. Carmona is expected to move inside to guard this season.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound Las Vegas (Nev.) native was also named to the 2025 Preseason All-SEC’s First Team by USA Today and Second Team by the Media Poll. Carmona is one of 10 offensive linemen from the SEC to be named to the Outland watch list.
Other Arkansas players on preseason watch lists include quarterback Taylen Green, who was named as one of 80 players for the Maxwell Award.
The FWAA will announce six or seven Outland Trophy semifinalists on Nov. 19 at a reception in Omaha (Neb.), and those players will then be pared down to three finalists, who will be announced on Nov. 25 on ESPN.
The winner of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced on Friday, December 12 as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards and will air on ESPN.
