Arkansas reportedly hires safeties coach

Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Ryan Silverfield is close to completing his coaching staff and he added to the secondary on Tuesday, according to a report from Matt Zenitz.

Georgia State safeties coach CJ Wilford is expected to take the same position with the Razorbacks after one season with the Panthers. Wilford has also worked at Florida, Louisiana and Southern Utah, becaming the country’s youngest Division I position coach in 2018 when he was with Southern Utah.

The Moorpark, Calif., has some SEC experience having served as a quality control coach at Florida in 2024. He worked with reported new Arkansas defensive coordinator Ron Roberts with the Gators as a defensive backs analyst.

Reported hires thus far for Arkansas include:

OC – Tim Cramsey

RB – David Johnson

WR – Larry Smith

OL – Jeff Myers and Marcus Johnson

DC/ILB – Ron Roberts

Safeties – CJ Wilford

Special Teams – Chad Lunsford

Strength and Conditioning – Noah Franklin

Football General Manager – Scott Gasper
