Arkansas wide receiver room took another hit

The Arkansas Razorbacks suffered their third consecutive loss in Saturday’s 56-13 drubbing to the No. 22 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but the hits continued with one of their top receivers going down for the season.
Florida State transfer Jalen Brown suffered a gruesome leg injury in the third quarter of the Hogs’ defeat to the Fighting Irish.
“He broke his fibula, I believe,” Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said. “He seemed to be doing okay in that situation, but he broke both of those bones.”
Arkansas has lost three wideouts to likely season-ending losses
Through five games, Brown is Arkansas’ fourth-leading pass catcher with 12 receptions for 167 yards (13.9 yards per catch) and two touchdowns – which is tied for second on the team.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Hogs senior offensive guard Fernando Carmona Jr. said. “Just because of the player he is, how hard he works and the time he’s put into this all. We were just distraught because we knew it was something serious right as it happened.
“He is just such a great teammate to us, and to see him on the ground in pain killed all of us. As teammates, we wanted to be around him and share that moment and be let him know that we had his back and we are going to be here for him through and through.”
The Razorbacks already suffered previous hits to its wideout room with Stanford transfer Ismael Cisse and 30-year old Monte Harrison being out.
Cisse hurt his wrist lifting weights over the summer and had season-ending surgery to correct that, while Harrison broke his foot in Little Rock during the rout of Arkansas State on September 6.
Despite an extremely disappointing performance against Notre Dame on Saturday and only notching 13 points, the Arkansas offense still ranks in the top 10 nationally for total offensive yards per game (514.6).
The Hogs will have next week off before traveling to No. 15 Tennessee on Oct. 11, which will start a tough SEC seven-game stretch.
