Fighting Irish take Hogs to market in blowout fashion

FAYETTEVILLE — The crowd that poured into Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium was announced as 75,111 strong, but it was considerably less after the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-2) put a beatdown on the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-3, 0-1 SEC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Hogs took a 3-0 lead on the first drive of the game thanks to the leg of freshman kicker Scott Starzyk, but the defense folded, yet again, as the Irish offense got whatever it wanted however it wanted to the tune of 641 yards of offense and 56 points.
Bobby Petrino and his Razorback offense were stifled for most of the day and had only amassed 13 points by halftime, and by then the game was in hand for Notre Dame, which scored 14 points with less than a minute to go before half to pull ahead 42-13.
After the halftime break, Arkansas’ defense held the Irish on the scoring front, but the damage was already done at that point.
Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love had an exceptionally good game and hit a quartet of four touchdowns in the first half — two receiving and two rushing. Jadarian Price was the Irish’s leading rusher with 86 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.
The loss puts the Hogs at 2-3 on the season and limping into the bye week with a road trip to Tennessee set for the weekend of October 11. Check out the highlights from Saturday’s loss below.
