Gage Wood drafted 26th overall by Philadelphia Phillies in MLB Draft

Arkansas right-hander Gage Wood blew up on the national scene when he tossed the third no-hitter in Menβs College World Series history last month, and found out his next stop on Sunday.
The junior in-state arm from Batesville was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 26th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Wood shot up the draft rankings with his no-hit performance in the CWS elimination game against Murray State in which he struck out 19 of 28 batters faced and was one hit batter from a perfect outing. He was ranked as high as the draftβs 10th-best prospect by D1Baseball.
A shoulder impingement forced Wood to sit out for two months during the regular season, but he finished 2025 with a 4-1 record and a 3.82 earned run average in 10 appearances, surrendering 27 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 69 batters and walking only seven.
In his three-year career at Arkansas, Wood went 9-3 and compiled a 4.33 ERA with 167 strikeouts to 38 walks in 55 appearances that also included seven saves.
Additional individual honors for Wood include Freshman All-SEC Team and First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman in 2023, Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2024 and 2025, plus he was selected to the Fayetteville Regional and College World Series All-Tournament Teams.
