The Arkansas basketball team is hitting the road and will take on the Memphis Tigers in the St. Jude Tip Off Classic exhibition at the FedExForum on Monday evening.

The game will be the second exhibition the Hogs have as a tuneup for the start of the regular season. Arkansas ran Cincinnati out of the gym with an 89-61 win that turned into a slam dunk contest on Friday.

“We knew what the game plan was,” Freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. said postgame. “We came in wanting to play faster than them. We knew they were tough on defense. We knew they deny a lot, so we just wanted to be tough, come out with the better energy tonight, and that is what happened.”

Freshman guards Meleek Thomas and Acuff put on a show with 18 and 17 points, respectively, while the Razorbacks shot 53.2% from the field with eight connections from three.

Head coach John Calipari is returning to a Memphis program he led from 2000-2009. The Tigers got to the National Championship game in 2008, and he amassed a 214-68 overall record there.

“I hope us coming in inspires them to say, ‘We can do this,'” Calipari said Friday night. “I’m telling you, when I was there, people walked with their chest out. We were beating everybody, we were No. 1 in the country and the only reason we were was because of all the people who helped us.”
