Mallett, Rouse, and Stoerner headline 2025 UA Hall of Honor Class

Arkansas football greats Ryan Mallett, James Rouse and Clint Stoerner were among eight former Razorback student-athletes selected to the 2025 University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor.

The late Mallett is considered by many to be the best quarterback in program history. He thrived during the Bobby Petrino era, completing 491 of 814 passes for 7,492 yards and 62 touchdowns in 2009-2010.

To this day, Mallett still holds the record for the best season ever produced through the air by an Arkansas signal caller, in which he compiled 3,869 yards and 32 touchdowns. He was drafted 74th overall by the New England Patriots in 2011 and also played for the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens during his seven-year NFL career.

Rouse, a Little Rock Parkview alumnus, was the first Arkansas running back of the 1980s to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in 1987, finishing with 1,004 and 17 touchdowns. He helped the Hogs reach consecutive Cotton Bowl appearances in 1988 and 1989, plus was named to the Arkansas All-Decade Team of the 80s. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1990.

Stoerner was recruited to Arkansas from Texas by Danny Ford, but excelled under Houston Nutt while earning Second-Team All-SEC honors in both 1998 and 1999. He is a member of the 90s All-Decade Team.

In 1998, Stoerner led the Hogs to a share of the SEC Western Division title. He passed for 7,422 yards and 57 touchdowns in his career with at Arkansas, then played in both the NFL and NFL Europe, as well as the Arena Football League.

Other well-known names amongst the Arkansas fanbase include Dwight Stewart and Zack Cox.

Stewart lettered three times for the Hogs, including the 1994 national championship run as well as the runner-up finish in 1995. He helped Arkansas win 85 of his 95 games played, compiling 123 assists, 76 steals and 42 blocks in his career. He played professionally for around the world after leaving Fayetteville.

Cox was a standout third basemen for Dave Van Horn during the 2009-2010 seasons and left as one of the top hitters in school history. His .429 batting average and 102 hits in 2010 are each still program records and he is one of 11 first round draft picks under Van Horn. He was drafted 25th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010.

Other inductees to the 2025 Hall of Honor are Makeba Alcide (Women’s Track & Field), Brian Baker (Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country), and C’eira Ricketts (Women’s Basketball).
