Georgia Tech’s 2027 class took a hit on Friday afternoon as athlete Keyon Standifer announced via social media that he was decommitting from the Jackets and opening his recruitment back up.

Standifer, an Athens Academy (Ga.) standout, committed to Georgia Tech back in late September after the Jackets’ coaching staff were early to the party in his recruitment based on his performance at various 7-on-7s over the summer and his impressive early junior-season film. He had this to say during an interview with JOL when he committed in September.

“One of the biggest reasons I am committing to Georgia Tech is that it offers a unique combination of high-level academics and competitive athletes, like Bailey Stockton,” said Standifer. “Another reason I’m committing there is that I’m not too far from home and can always come back to visit my mom or any part of my family.”

“I’m very excited to be a part of Georgia Tech,” added Standifer after a gameday visit in September. “The atmosphere was great, and the student section didn’t disappoint.”

Back at the time of his commitment, Standifer’s offer list was small, but after a junior season at Athens Academy in which he put up 1,608 yards receiving on 61 catches with 25 touchdowns as well as 259 yards rushing and five touchdowns offensively and 30 total tackles (17 solo), one tackle-for-loss and four interceptions, that list began to grow quickly. He now has offers from Oklahoma, LSU, Mississippi State, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, UNC and Indiana, among others.

Standifer’s decommitment leaves Georgia Tech with one member of the 2027 class currently with that being wide receiver Jordan ‘JC’ Christie from Southwest DeKalb (Ga.).
