Another one bites the dust

The 2025 JUCO football campaign is now heading down the back stretch and the next two weeks will determine a lot of conference titles while knocking others out of the national title picture.  Defending co-champion College of San Mateo was the latest to take a hit, falling to San Francisco this past weekend.

San Francisco has been gaining momentum over the past month and had its biggest win in a handful of years when they beat San Mateo, 13-6, on Saturday in front of a bias Bulldog crowd that had seen 17 straight wins.  San Francisco (6-2) jumped up to No. 22 in the rankings with the win and now have the lead in the Bay6 Conference.  The Rams face No. 43 Foothill this weekend before a showdown at No. 9 Diablo Valley the following weekend.

The lone remaining undefeated teams out west are now No. 2 Golden West and No. 3 Ventura.  Golden West had a solid win against No. 28 Cerritos this past Saturday (27-19) and faces an undermanned Canyons squad this weekend before a showdown at No. 7 Fullerton on the final weekend of the season.  Ventura has a similar fate, facing Long Beach City before hosting No. 14 Mt. San Antonio in what will be their toughest game since week two.

Top-ranked Hutchinson smashed a solid Coffeyville team, 31-0, on Saturday to set up a monstrous road matchup at No. 15 Butler after the Grizzlies knocked off a talented Garden City team, 26-23.  A win by Hutchinson would go a long ways towards winning the Jayhawk Conference with three weeks remaining on the schedule.

Copiah-Lincoln is the top-ranked team from the Mississippi ranks at No. 5 and improved to 7-1 with a 28-3 win against East Central on Thursday.  The Wolves secured a playoff spot in the playoffs with the win but could still finish in second place in the Southern Conference should No. 19 Hinds knock off No. 8 Gulf Coast this Thursday.  The Northern Conference has a three-way tie between No. 16 Northwest, No. 27 East Mississippi and No. 34 Itawamba.  A win by Northwest would put East Mississippi in a great position to win the conference title by virtue of beating Northwest earlier in the year.  A win by Itawamba would give Itawamba the conference title.  East Mississippi finishes against No. 48 Holmes.

With one week remaining in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference schedule, No. 6 Tyler has one last hurdle to jump as they host No. 20 Navarro this weekend.  A win gives the Apaches the outright title.  A loss could create a three-way cluster with Navarro and No. 13 Trinity Valley.

Here is the rest of the JCGridiron Dirty 30 Rankings.  Just a reminder, the Dirty 30 Rankings do not count games against unaffiliated programs or club programs in the rankings.
