Bredeson, Hausmann and Moore set to represent Michigan at Big Ten Media Days

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore will be joined at the Big Ten Media Days in Las Vegas by three senior leaders: fullback–tight end Max Bredeson, linebacker Ernest Hausmann, and edge rusher Derrick Moore. Each has carved a distinct path in Ann Arbor and now plays a crucial role in the Wolverines’ push to return to the College Football Playoff.

MAX BREDESON
Max Bredeson, a preferred walk‑on turned captain, emerged as a key chess piece in Michigan’s offense. In 2023, he played all 15 games, starting three times at tight end/H‑back, and was revered for his blocking prowess—as seen in a powerful Rose Bowl block against Alabama’s Caleb Downs.
Under first‑year offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, Bredeson’s role could expand in a scheme that highlights tight ends. Already dependable, his full‑back skillset, and leadership will prove essential in short‑yardage and tempo situations. If named captain again, Bredeson would be one of the few two‐time captains in Michigan history.

ERNEST HAUSMANN
A transfer from Nebraska, Ernest Hausmann immediately became a defensive contributor as a sophomore in 2023. He appeared in all 15 games, logging 46 tackles and adding veteran depth.
In 2024, he secured a starting role alongside Maryland transfer Jaishawn Barham, finishing with 89 tackles, seven for loss, two sacks, and an interception.
Coaches commend his increasing strength and influence in the locker room. He’s viewed as a defensive leader at the heart of a unit aiming to be one of the best defenses in the country.
Off the field, Hausmann’s character shines—born in Uganda and raised in Nebraska, he recently returned home with One Million Wells to drill clean water wells. His maturation into a captain’s mold makes him indispensable for Wink Martindale’s defense.

DERRICK MOORE
A former top recruit from St. Frances Academy (Baltimore), Moore arrived in 2022 and saw rotational action as a freshman. He recorded eight tackles and two sacks.
In 2023, he played in all 15 games, posting 34 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble-recovery touchdown; he also executed the game‑clinching tackle on Jalen Milroe to seal the Rose Bowl.
As a junior starter in 2024, Moore notched 23 tackles, six for loss and four sacks while earning All‑Big Ten honorable mention.
Now entering his senior year, he returns as the only returning starter on the line and is widely predicted to lead Michigan in sacks. Projections have him among the nation’s top edge defenders. With his combination of size and refined technique, Derrick Moore is poised to anchor a defensive front critical to Michigan’s run defense and pass rush.
