Everything Sherrone Moore said after Michigan's loss to USC

(Unintelligible question about the loss)
I think they just played well. They executed at a high level. We didn’t execute all the times we needed to. Yeah, they played really well. They executed the times they needed to. We didn’t. We didn’t tackle very well. And we’ve tackled a lot better. And that was not one of our best tackling performances. And those guys executed well, they had a really good plan. Just too many opportunities, big plays, third down conversions, scoring in the beginning of the game and half. So we just gotta do a better job of rallying those things. So, but credit to them, credit to their game plan. No excuses. We got to continue to attack and get better.

On USC’s rushing performance
Yeah, I mean, we got fit right out of the gap, but it was a great run, great job, execution, blocking by them. We didn’t fit the run right. So that’s why the hole was so big, and they made a play. So again, credit to them, credit to Lincoln and that staff and what they did. But there’s things that we got to look at, we got to fix, we got to make sure we attack. It was good to see the fight as the team went, you know, there was never any quit with the team. But there’s things that you have to fix in these big-time games against really good opponents to win. So then, again, credit to them.
On how USC scoring at the beginning of the game and half impacted the team
What happened in the beginning, guys, they just kept going. And same thing in the second half, there wasn’t really any dullness or falling off in plays. We figured out like, you know, our guys, our guys fought the whole game, to the end. So we’re always going to fight, and we’re never going to stop playing and keep going. So that’s just part of the game.
On losing Justice Haynes impacting the gameplan and his status moving forward
I think the game plan was the same. We did the same thing we were going to do with the game plan. And he’ll be okay. So we’ll just see how he goes as we go through the week.
On the kind of injury he had
Yeah, just something inside. He came back out and was working through it, probably could have went. Extra cautious on our student athletes when anything happens to them. So make sure they’re okay. But the game plan was the same.
On what he learned from the loss
So we got to keep getting better. That’s it. That’s that’s where we’re at. We got to keep getting better. We got to go win games and can’t let this game beat you. So our job now is to figure out what we can do when we land in Ann Arbor to get better, and that’s it.
On why USC’s defensive was successful
I think there’s execution things. They did a good job of rallying the ball and tackling the ball. I felt like we had some momentum in the run game. It wasn’t the explosives, but there was the five, the six, the runs. And I thought Bryce did a good job with some of the RPOs and things that we let on and played with, and he did. They did a good job, and they made plays when they needed to. They got off the field on third down, and that’s the key.
(Unintelligible question)
Yeah, I mean, I think one we scored on, but the rest we didn’t. So it’s about third down conversions. So we got to attack third down. We got to continue to get better at it.
On his message to the team
We got a lot of game left. That was six games into the season. We got six more left, and there’s a lot out there. So we’re not talking about goals or what we need to do. Worry about tomorrow. When we land, what are we going to do to get better tomorrow? What are we going to do on Monday as we get back into the team? Sunday they’re off, let their bodies recover, recuperate, and same thing, we’ve got to go attack it. The coaches have got to go attack it right now. So there was never any quit in our team, we’re going to continue to fight.
On what he’s seen from Bryce Underwood on the road
Just so much poise still, never rattled. Competitive spirit, competitive energy. Gave him more as the games went on, and gave him more in this game, and he continues to get better and better and better. So we got to continue to do that. He’ll mature, he’ll get better as we go.
On Underwood’s status and whether he was banged up
A little bit, but he’s fine.
On the poor tackling
We were tackling every week, we were tackling every day, and we didn’t execute. We didn’t tackle when we needed to, and they did a good job.
On the decision to go for two
Yeah, I mean, when you’re at that point, if you get the two-point conversion and you’re down nine, then it’s a touchdown and the field goal wins the game. So that was the decision we made.
