4-Star 2026 DB Jordan Deck Flips from Baylor, Commits to Michigan

On Wednesday, four-star defensive back Jordan Deck from Frisco (Tx.) Lone Star announced his commitment to the University of Michigan, flipping from his month-long pledge to Baylor.
Deck is a highly regarded prospect, ranked No. 339 nationally, No. 29 among safeties, and No. 39 in Texas by the Rivals Industry Rankings. His recruitment drew attention from numerous Power Five programs, making his decision one of the more closely watched developments in the 2026 cycle.
Deck visited Colorado on May 9 and Penn State on May 16 before making his official visit to Michigan the weekend of June 14, in a trip that was reportedly positive across the board. However, his official visit to Baylor the following weekend, from June 20 to 22, proved critical, leading to his initial commitment to the Bears on June 24.
Deck’s flip to Michigan stems from a long-standing relationship with defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan, who first offered him in May 2024. Even after his commitment to Baylor, Morgan remained in consistent contact and kept Deck high on Michigan’s board.
On the field, Deck is expected to be an immediate asset in defensive coordinator Wink Martindale’s aggressive and flexible scheme. At 6’3″ and 180 pounds, he brings a rare frame for a defensive back and uses it well in both pass coverage and run support. His athleticism and instincts allow him to impact the game in multiple ways, including as a blitzer. He projects as a fit at safety, nickelback, or potentially even outside corner, depending on how his role develops.
Jordan Deck’s flip is a significant win for Michigan’s 2026 class, adding a versatile, high-upside defender who fits the program’s evolving identity under Martindale. His tools and adaptability position him to make an early impact and potentially grow into a key contributor in the coming years.
