4-Star 2026 OL Marky Walbridge commits to Michigan

Marky Walbridge, a 2026 four-star offensive lineman out of St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts, has committed to Michigan.
Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 285 pounds, Walbridge ranks as the No. 217 overall prospect and No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He took his official visit to Ann Arbor from June 20-22, with Michigan widely seen as the frontrunner throughout his recruitment.
Walbridge committed to Michigan over offers from Penn State, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Boston College, among others.
He had previously made an unofficial visit to Michigan in the spring and pointed to the coaching staff’s consistency and the program’s strong culture as key reasons behind his decision. Offensive line coach Grant Newsome spearheaded the recruitment, building a strong connection with Walbridge and his family.
While most outlets list him as an interior lineman, Walbridge brings the length and athleticism to line up at tackle. His versatility aligns with Michigan’s philosophy of cross-training offensive linemen at multiple positions. Intel suggests not only does the Michigan coaching staff view Walbridge as a tackle, but that he was arguably their top tackle prospect in the 2026 class.
Finding versatile tackles
Walbridge is the latest addition in Michigan’s offensive line recruiting, which shows an adjusted strategy. In the 2024 class, Michigan added five offensive line recruits in Andrew Sprague, Blake Frazier, Ben Roebuck, Luke Hamilton, and Jake Guarnera. Other than Guarnera, who is viewed as a center, the other four were all seen as tackle prospects that could potentially move inside.
Athletic, versatile tackles. Michigan stayed hot in offensive line recruiting in 2025 with Kayden Strayhorn, Avery Gach, Andrew Babalola, and Ty Haywood. While Strayhorn is viewed as a center, and Gach a likely guard, Babalola is an elite tackle prospect, as is Haywood but he has the versatility to slide inside.
Michigan, like many other programs, has learned that it is nearly impossible to find an elite left tackle in the transfer portal; therefore, it is a position that must be a focus in high school recruiting. Players like Walbridge give Michigan that tackle potential, as well as the versatility to play other positions.
