Louisa County (Va.) running back Savion Hiter cemented his status as one of the premier prospects in the country on Monday, earning a coveted fifth star and checking in at No. 12 overall in the newly released Rivals300 rankings for the 2025 class.

Hiter, a physically imposing and electric playmaker, has been a dominant force in Virginia high school football since his underclassman days. Rivals’ scouting summary paints a clear picture of why Hiter is one of the most sought-after recruits in the country.

“Gifted runner with an advanced blend of athleticism, fluidity, and instincts as a high school underclassman,” the Rivals scouting report reads. “Physically developed, measuring in at over 5-foot-11 and around 200 pounds prior to his senior season. Registers as a strong athlete, running an 11.11-second mark in the 100-meters as a freshman. Also jumped close to 45 feet in the triple jump – an outstanding mark.”

Beyond the raw numbers, it’s Hiter’s feel for the game and rare fluidity that separates him.

“Looks to be a natural runner. An extremely fluid and smooth mover who changes directions effortlessly. Shows excellent acceleration. Cuts on a dime and makes defenders miss in space. Runs with pace and instincts. A strong tackle-breaker who runs through contact due to a strong leg drive.”

Hiter’s junior season was one of the best in the country. He totaled 1,698 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns while averaging a staggering 10.8 yards per carry. He also made impact plays on defense, flashing his toughness and versatility.

Michigan Pushing Hard

Michigan is one of the schools most aggressively pursuing Hiter, and the Wolverines are firmly in the mix for the five-star and the perceived leader. Running backs coach Tony Alford has prioritized Hiter since arriving in Ann Arbor, building on his reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiters at the position.

Michigan isn’t alone in its pursuit. Georgia has long been considered a threat given its track record of producing elite backs, while Ohio State can’t be ignored.

Tennessee continues to appear to be the greatest threat to Michigan. Hiter took an official visit to Knoxville the week after his official visit to Michigan.

Hiter has not announced a commitment date, but the expectation has long been Hiter would announce before his senior season begins this fall.
