Michigan running back Justice Haynes (22) arrives ahead of the Washington game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025.

Michigan was able to bounce back in a big way on Saturday as the Wolverines were able to utilize a big second half to beat Washington 24-7.

Despite the good mood in Ann Arbor, the win came at a cost as the Wolverines continue to limp through the season with multiple key injuries on both sides of the ball.

Even with multiple players unavailable for the game, U-M lost offensive lineman Evan Link to an undisclosed lower-body injury in the first half of the game that required him to be carted off the field.

After the game, U-M head coach Sherrone Moore spoke to reporters and was asked about Link’s status.

“Yeah, so Evan, not really sure, doesn’t look too good,” Moore said. “I know it was a lower-body thing, but we’ll see how he does.”

Although it appeared that both Justice Haynes and Rod Moore wanted to give it a go, it was decided at game time that both players would be held out of the game, although it doesn’t appear that their absence from the field should be very long.

“Justice and Rod were game-time decisions,” Moore said. “They practiced throughout the week, and we always err on the side of, even sometimes when they wanna go, making sure that they’re full strength before we do anything. So they’re game-time decisions.”

Finally, the tight end position was depleted on Saturday as the Wolverines had to dive deep into its depth chart due to both Marlin Klein and Hogan Hansen being unavailable for the game.

That didn’t seem to matter, though, as the likes of Zack Marshall and Deakon Tonielli stepped up when it mattered the most.

Like Haynes and Moore, it appears that both Klein and Hansen are trending in the right direction.

“Both of them possibly could go,” Moore said. “They’ll return soon, but that room is deep. I think Coach Casula does a really good job coaching those guys. And all those guys have ability, and you saw it today in the run and pass game. We think really highly of Zack Marshall, really highly of Deakon Tonelli.

“And we always talk about next man up. And in that room, it’s just the next guy’s gotta go. And it doesn’t really matter who it is and what number it is, you gotta go. So the decision was already made before that even happened.”
