Eliah Drinkwitz gives injury update on Mizzou LT Cayden Green

The Missouri Tigers went into their matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks without the most talented player on their offensive line. Cayden Green suffered an injury in practice on Wednesday heading into what ended up a 29-20 Tiger win to open SEC play.
Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz updated Green’s status after the game.
“Cayden got injured in Wednesday’s practice,” Drinkwitz said. “We thought it would be OK. He was a full participant in Thursday’s walkthrough but we didn’t feel right about it so got an MRI Thursday night. … He should be back as soon as he can. It’s not an end-of-season, it could be three weeks, it could be five weeks.”
Green was a preseason All-American at left guard, but two weeks before the season, the Tigers moved him to left tackle.
It took a game for him to settle in, but in Weeks 2 & 3, Green posted excellent performances.
Next man up
In his absence Saturday, redshirt junior Jayven Richardson took the start at left tackle.
“I was really, really proud of his performance tonight,” Drinkwitz said. “We had a lot of big runs to his side.”
Richardson fought for the starting left tackle job through both the offseason leading into the 2024 season and this past offseason.
We will have the full press conference video available as soon as possible after the game. You can find it on the MizzouToday YouTube channel.
