Midway through the third quarter of Mizzou’s matchup with Vanderbilt, the Tigers faced fourth-and-goal from the 2.

Quarterback Beau Pribula faked a pitch and took a run up the middle. His leg got twisted up in the scrum and after a long time down on the field, he was taken off by a cart.

“Beau has no broken bones, but he did have an ankle injury that had to be popped back in,” Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz said. “Don’t have a timetable for his return, but it could be awhile.”

Pribula was 9-of-14 passing for 68 yards when he left the game. He also had four rushes for 10 yards.

Pribula earned the starting job after a quarterback competition through fall camp when Sam Horn came in for one play in Week 1 and suffered a season-ending injury.

The Penn State transfer led the Tigers to a 5-0 record before dropping a game against Alabama. He bounced back by leading Mizzou to an overtime win against Auburn and had the Tigers set up to take the lead on the road against No. 10 Vanderbilt.

Pribula’s timetable is uncertain. The quarterback will undergo an MRI Sunday for a dislocated ankle.

In his absence, four-star true freshman Matt Zollers took over. The Tigers fell short of tying the contest in a 17-10 loss to the Commodores.

He went 14-for-23 for 138 yards and one touchdown after Pribula’s exit.
