Tigers in the NFL: Harrison Mevis goes perfect in debut for Rams

After a stint in the UFL and bouncing around practice squads, Harrison Mevis finally got his opportunity in the NFL.
The former Missouri kicker made his debut Sunday for the Los Angeles Rams. In 42-26 win over San Francisco, Mevis sank all six of his extra-point attempts. The Rams elevated Mevis from the practice squad Saturday after signing the kicker earlier the week in response to inconsistency on special teams.
Mevis, who competed in the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, signed with Carolina after going undrafted. The Panthers waived him before the start of the season. The two-time All-SEC honoree went the UFL route that season, putting together a near-perfect campaign while converting 20 of his 21 field goal attempts.
That performance earned Mevis a contract with the New York Jets this past offseason. He stuck around on the practice squad with former Tigers quarterback Brady Cook until his release in mid-September. Mevis marked the first Missouri product to kick in the NFL since Jeff Brockhaus in 1987 with the 49ers.
In Sunday’s win, Mevis also played against a True Son. San Francisco defensive tackle Jordan Elliot logged three assisted tackles.
How other Tigers performed in Week 10
In a fourth-quarter comeback Sunday, Chicago wide receiver Luther Burden III found separation with his defender, reeled in his final reception of the game and fought for seven extra yards. While known for his yard-after-catch ability, the rookie helped move the Bears down field for an eventual go-ahead touchdown. Burden finished with 51 yards on three receptions.
Drew Lock played in a second consecutive blowout victory for Seattle on Sunday. The Seahawks’ backup quarterback recovered his own fumble on a botched snap during the final drive. He later took three straight kneels for a total of -4 yards to his ledger. In that 44-24 victory over Arizona, Cardinals defensive end Darius Robinson recorded four tackles, two by himself.
In Week 3, Lock attempted three passing attempts, completing two for 15 yards. He also got tacked negative yardage on a carry in a 44-13 win over New Orleans.
