At 1:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, Mizzou defensive end Zion Young was arrested in Boone County by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Young was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and failure to properly affix his license plate.

The 21-year-old was released on summons.

“We are aware of the situation involving Zion Young,” Mizzou coach Eliah Drinkwitz said in a statement from the team. “We have high expectations for all of our student-athletes, on and off the field, and we will address this matter.”

Young is a senior defensive end who produced 38 total tackles with a team-high 15.0 for loss and 6.5 sacks. He also had 12 quarterback hits, two batted passes and two forced fumbles in his second year in Columbia.

Young originally committed to Mizzou out of high school, but flipped to Michigan State where he played the first two seasons of his college career.

After his sophomore season, Young then transferred to join the Tigers for the 2024 season.

Throughout the 2025 season, Young has risen up NFL Draft boards, occasionally being mocked as high as the back end of the first round of April’s draft. He has more commonly shown up in the second or third round of mock drafts.

Young and the Tigers have one game left to play this season, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Dec. 27. Then the senior has accepted an invitation to play in the Panini’s Senior Bowl.

Young was voted as a first-team defensive lineman on the All-SEC Team as voted by the league’s coaches.
