Mizzou forward Jacob Crews meets with media Thursday
Missouri forward Jacob Crews met with local media ahead of the Tigers’ weekend matchups with SEMO and VMI. Here is a full video of the press conference.
“I think in my 12 minutes of play, I contributed on both ends,” Crews said of his performance against Howard. “I believe I was an energy guy, too, on the bench, I don’t think I ever dipped. Don’t think I had any lows.”
“I’d say mental for sure,” Crews said of his biggest point of growth from Year 1 to Year 2 at Mizzou. “As far as off the court, on the court, I’m blessed to have a second year underneath Gates and in this system. … I know what’s coming, I know what to expect.”
“Defense. For nonconference, too, we understand we’re not playing SEC-level teams, but that doesn’t mean these teams aren’t going to give us their best shot,” Crews said of the team’s biggest areas of improvement in the early season. “I was a mid-major player, I know what it’s like to come play a high-major team. I wanted to beat them, knock them off. That post after, that social media storm that happens when you knock off a team, it’s a big accomplishment. So understanding that every opponent is going to come in, especially in the non-conference, to knock us off.”
“I would say they’re physical on defense,” Crews said of SEMO. “I think they have an identity, I think they have each others’ back. … They’ve got some returners, too. I definitely see them being more together. I came from that conference, I know they’re well coached.”
