Mizzou jumps in early with offer to 2027 LB Kareem Palmer

Before Missouri offered Kareem Palmer, the Tigers never crossed the linebacker’s mind.
Alabama, Georgia Tech and Tennessee always frequented Palmer’s television on the weekends, noting he saw Missouri on the losing end of some of those matchups. But in a recruitment starting to pick up steam this fall, the Tigers provided a spark.
Assistant director of defensive personnel Christian Heinz called Palmer with an offer Tuesday. Palmer’s recruiting assistant let him know of Missouri’s interest in advance, which excited the Class of 2027 linebacker — who only held an offer from Tennessee before the start of the week.
“I’m just really happy that it’s my second SEC offer and my second offer in general,” Palmers said. “So I feel like I’m going up the right path right now.”
Palmer received a scholarship from Tennessee during a prospect camp this past summer. Georgia Tech followed Missouri with an offer Thursday, and for the Tigers, the staff was drawn to the Lyons (Ga.) Toombs County inside linebacker’s potential.
“He just sounded like a great coach,” Palmer said. “He just sounded like he really wanted me up there. He really just sounded like a really competitive coach, which is that type of mindset I really like that, because that’s how Toombs County works.”
Palmer met Missouri safety Santana Banner‘s younger brother, Shamar Banner, during a visit to Georgia Tech this past weekend. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker will visit Florida State on Saturday before checking out Florida in two weekends, his first of two trips lined up this fall — Nov. 1 being the other. He’ll also visit Alabama on Oct. 18, Vanderbilt on Oct. 25, Georgia on Nov. 15, Georgia Tech again on Nov. 28 and Tennessee on Nov. 29.
