The MizzouToday Show: How Mizzou prepares for South Carolina

On the latest episode of The MizzouToday Show, Kyle McAreavy and Kenny Van Doren previewed Missouri’s Week 4 matchup with South Carolina with updates surrounding LaNorris Sellers‘ availability and how the Tigers might contain the dual-threat quarterback. The guys also open the show with what went right against Louisiana in Week 3 before closing the it out with three Gamecocks to know and score predictions.
Looking back
The guys opened the show talking about the performance against Louisiana and how not every cupcake opponent is easy.
“That hasn’t always been the case for Mizzou,” McAreavy said. “… These games look really easy when you put them on the schedule and they’re there to be an auto win for the most part. But Mizzou handled its business really well in a way you don’t always see. … Start to finish, dominant.”
Looking toward South Carolina
Then the guys move quickly into a preview of this week.
“This is a big deal,” Van Doren said. “But coming in, it’s a game that maybe a lot of people have shifted ideas. … Mizzou at one point was a two-score favorite.”
“I think that opening line was under the expectation that Sellers would not play,” McAreavy said. “And then maybe even that Dylan Stewart, the star edge rusher over at South Carolina, was going to be suspended for a half. There were questions about that Saturday night after he was ejected from the Vanderbilt game.
“… The team expectation right now is the Tigers will be facing LaNorris Sellers.”
Players to know
The guys discuss three players to know going into the matchup with South Carolina. First up, Stewart.
“He’s been talked about very highly going into this season,” Van Doren said.
Then they discuss receiver Nyck Harbor.
“He’s able to take the top off of just about any defense,” McAreavy said.
Finally, a look at running back Rahsul Faison.
“He’s part of a two-headed backfield with him and Oscar Addaway,” McAreavy said. “… He’s a talented back.”
