MT Mizzou extends QB Battle

In the latest edition of The MizzouToday ShowKenny Van Doren and Kyle McAreavy analyze the Missouri quarterback situation, which will be extended into Week 1 with both Beau Pribula and Sam Horn set to play against Central Arkansas. Kyle then breaks down the starting five on the offensive line and the story of walk-on wide receiver Logan Muckey beating cancer and earning a special teams captain nod. The show closes with the final notes from fall camp heading into Week 1 preparation.

The guys open the show talking about the ramifications of Wednesday’s announcement that both Mizzou quarterbacks will play in Week 1 and the issues with an ongoing quarterback battle.

“This was kind of the decision that I think was in the making for a couple of weeks,” McAreavy said. “… We don’t even know for sure who is going to get the reps in Week 1. I would still lean Beau Pribula at this point.”

They then transition to the offensive line and redshirt junior Curtis Peagler taking the right guard spot. Kyle also talks about the development of redshirt junior Tristan Wilson. And what the interior of the offensive line will look like in Week 1.

“I think the move was more predicated on Curtis Peagler showing a lot of development these last few weeks. And Tristan Wilson, too,” McAreavy said. “Showing that the better move would be to trust them on the interior.”

Kyle and Kenny then talk about Muckey and his story returning to the field after a cancer diagnosis.

“It kind of affected his outlook and everything, he doesn’t want to take a day for granted anymore,” McAreavy said. “Just wants to enjoy the time he has left with the team. … He just seems very thankful for everything the program has done for him and the community here.”

They then finish up talking about Mizzou coach Eliah Drinkwitz making sure this year was his toughest fall camp and the lack of injuries the Tigers are exiting fall camp with.
