Looking at the schedule

“It’s definitely a fun group of games,” McAreavy said. “I think that’s kind of the biggest takeaway with this move to a nine-game (SEC) schedule, is there’s not going to be a lot of boring matchups throughout the season at any point.”

“I think getting Kentucky at home back in 2026 is a big one,” Van Doren said. “Didn’t face them this year. It was kind of a big game even though there wasn’t a trophy for it.”

The highs of the first third of the season

“The first thing that went right so far is the run game on offense,” McAreavy said. “… The run defense, also going very well. … It’s easy to say that Beau Pribula has been one of the things that went very right.”

“And from that, I think you have to go quarterback there,” Van Doren said. “… The way he’s responded really shows he is a veteran guy at the end of the day.”

And the lows

“The injuries, … Blake Craig, which on a kickoff up by 30-plus, I don’t remember what the exact score was at that point,” McAreavy said. “Tears his ACL and you lose a guy who you were expecting pretty big things from as a kicker this season. And that has really led to a lack of confidence in the kicking game. Which is another one of the things you can say have gone wrong.”
