Kyle McAreavyby: Kyle McAreavy3 hours agoKyle_mcareavy

On the latest episode of The MizzouToday ShowKyle McAreavy and Kenny Van Doren preview Missouri’s Week 11 matchup with Texas A&M, discussing Matt Zollers‘ first start and a talented Aggies offense ahead of the 2:30 p.m. Saturday contest on ABC. The guys also dive into basketball talk with takeaways from the season opener against Howard.

Marcel Reed

“Texas A&M is undefeated. Reed has been fantastic. He’s started to work himself into Heisman conversations, which I feel like we’re talking about every week,” McAreavy said. “We were talking about that with Diego Pavia, we were talking about that with Ty Simpson against Alabama, this is now three of the last four games where we’re saying, ‘Ya, they’re going against a Heisman guy.'”

Offensive weapons

“Two of those offensive weapons are transfer wide receivers in their first year with Texas A&M,” Van Doren said. “… Those two names stand out.”

KC Concepcion has been fantastic, Mario Craver has been fantastic,” McAreavy said. “Their run game has been great, too.”

Matt Zollers

“I think the biggest thing is just a consistency in players and coaches having faith that he is ready,” McAreavy said. “That’s not always the case with a true freshman. But everything I’ve heard is that he’s at least got the right mentality for it. He’s not going to get overwhelmed by the moment. And he’s got all the arm talent you could want.”

Basketball opener

“I think the length of the Tigers is going to be a key this season,” McAreavy said. “… The transfer portal guys that were brought in really changed from a guard-heavy team last year to a forward-heavy team this year.”

“Second main point, (Shawn Phillips), looks fantastic,” McAreavy said.

“They won the points in the paint by 30, … which is incredible,” McAreavy said. “… And they weren’t settling for 3s just to put up attempts.”
