The Week that Was in Mizzou Athletics: Aug. 11-17

With fall camp still ongoing, it’s easy to miss stuff. So we put together everything that happened around Mizzou Athletics last week.

Our site
We put out the first episode of The MizzouToday Show as Kenny and I discussed fall camp. We talked about the quarterback battle, the offensive line and standouts from the transfer class and freshman class.You can find the video here. Or you can listen to it as a podcast here.
Football
I opened the week with another look at the construction on the North End Zone. You can find the photo gallery here. Then I gave some insights from Mizzou’s second scrimmage. Here are three offensive insights, and here are three defensive insights.
Kenny spoke with 2027 linebacker Braylon Williams keeping Mizzou with his other top schools. Then he talked with 2027 four-star receiver Lawrence Britt about connecting with Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz.
Media got a chance to talk with Nate Johnson, Bralen Henderson, Brett Norfleet, Curtis Peagler and Marquis Johnson after practice this week. You can find all those videos here. Then I put together a story on Henderson finding his fit with Mizzou.
I added a story on Norfleet feeling ready and healthy, then Kenny wrote about Mizzou’s four most realistic flip targets. I put together a position battle update, which you can find here, then Kenny wrote about 2027 edge rusher Kaden McCarty setting a Mizzou visit.
Kenny added a story about Drinkwitz playing a key role in the recruitment of in-state linebacker Marshaun Ivy. I then continued my look into historic Border War matchups with a look at 1988.
Kenny put together the Tigers’ biggest 2026 recruiting needs in the Friday File, which you can find here. Then I wrote about three Mizzou players whose stock has risen during fall camp. Kenny added a story about Mizzou linebackers coach Derek Nicholson showing his North Carolina roots with a 2028 linebacker.
Then I put together my best guess at the Tiger depth chart. Here is a look at the offense, and here is a look at the defense.
Kenny added a story about a trio of visitors coming for the Alabama game.
Media got to speak with Drinkwitz after the Tigers’ scrimmage at Lindenwood on Saturday. You can find everything he said here. Then I put together some analysis with a Said and Unsaid looking into a few of Drinkwitz’s quotes.
I put together two mailbags for Sunday, the first on special teams and the offensive line, and the second on the quarterbacks, possible trades and wide receivers. Kenny added a story about 2027 defensive back Jordan Haskins looking into a Mizzou visit.
Then I finished the week with another offensive line update.

Men’s Basketball
Kenny talked with 2027 Kansas City product Cameron Barnes about a possible Mizzou visit in the fall. You can find it here.
Swim & Dive
Mizzou diver Collier Dyer scored a 346.29 in the 2025 Junior Pan-American Games to take third place in the Men’s 3-meter synchronized dive. He paired with Luke Hernandez, who dives for Arizona.
Dyer will also compete in the 3-meter springboard final at 9 a.m. today.
Volleyball
The Tigers held their Black and Gold scrimmage on Saturday.
The regular season will open Saturday when the Tigers hit the road to play Omaha at 2 p.m.
Soccer
The Tigers opened the regular season hosting South Dakota State and tied at 1.
Ava Vetter put the Tigers up 1-0 with a goal off an Emily Derucki assist at the 41:21 mark.
But South Dakota State tied it at the 78:32 mark.
The Jackrabbits led in total shots 11-6, and led in shots on goal 5-2. The Tigers totaled three shots in each half.
Kate Phillips made four saves in goal for the Tigers.
Mizzou will return to the field at 7 p.m. Wednesday when the Tigers host Youngstown State at 7 p.m.
Softball
Tiger incoming freshman infielder Avery Porter was named to the Canadian Softball U18 National Team on Tuesday.
Porter and the U18 Canadian Team will compete at the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation U18 Women’s World Cup from Sept. 27-Oct. 2 in Oklahoma City.
Porter was also on the Canadian team for the World Cup Qualifiers in 2024, helping Canada earn a second-place finish in Group C, trailing only the USA.
Porter, coming out of Katy, Texas, was rated the 21st-overall player in the Southwest Region and the No. 94 overall player in the Class of 2025.
