The sports calendar has quieted down for Christmas break. So this week’s Week that was is just looking back at the Mizzou diving competitors who competed at the USA Diving Winter National Championships from Dec. 10-16 and another national competition in Germany.

Swim & Dive

  • Collier Dyer competed in the men’s 3-meter dive and the synchronized men’s 3-meter dive.

He competed as ‘unattached’ because Mizzou did not qualify as a team.

After scoring 368.45 in the men’s 3-meter prelim/quarterfinal, Dyer finished with a 3-meter score of 703.70 for ninth overall.

In the synchronized 3-meter, Dyer and Miami’s Maxwell Flory paired for a prelim/quarterfinal score of 347.40, good for third. Then the pair finished with a score of 727.71 for third overall, giving Dyer a bronze medal.

Dyer was the only Tiger competitor at the USA competition.

  • Freshman Jazzelle Eikermann Gregorchuk went to a team diving competition in Berlin and while I tried to find more information about the event, it was all in German. Which I can not read.

Eikermann Gregorchuk took gold in mixed platform synchronized diving with a score of 268.08.

There will probably be no Week that Was in Mizzou sports next week. The only events this week were yesterday’s Braggin’ Rights basketball game, Saturday’s Gator Bowl and Sunday’s women’s basketball game against Kansas City. All of which I will cover.

The next edition will be the first Tuesday of January when we’ll have some wrestling and gymnastics to talk about.
