Players to know
Tai’Reon Joseph, Guard
Through four games, 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard Tai’Reon Joseph has led the Panthers with 19.3 points per game to go with 4.3 rebounds per contest.
The graduate student is with his fifth team in five years. He began at Austin Peay, before spending a year at Radford, another at Southern and last season at UTSA.
He scored 20.5 points per game at Southern as a junior, but hasn’t appeared in 20 games since his sophomore season.
This year, he’s averaging 16.5 shot attempts per game, so expect him to be the primary function of the Panther offense.
Cory Wells, forward
After spending three years and two seasons (where he played a grand total of three games) at Xavier University of Louisiana, (which does not have an ESPN page, let alone an On3 one) the 6-7, 200-pound forward made his way to Utah Valley for the 2024-25 season.
Last year, he appeared in 32 games, but did not start, so he transferred to Prairie View A&M for his graduate season.
Through four games, he’s produced more than 10 points three times and grabbed at least five rebounds in all four. He leads the Panthers with 6.8 rebounds per game and has 1.8 steals per contest.
Expect him to be the primary interior presence for the Panthers.
