NCPreps.com is expanding its footprint in high school athletics with the addition of Trey Scott, who will lead coverage in Eastern North Carolina for football, basketball, and baseball.

Scott brings nearly a decade of experience in sports media. Since 2021, he has served as the lead high school sportswriter for Neuse News Sports, covering teams across Lenoir, Greene, and Jones counties. In 2024, he became Vice President of Sports Media & Digital Strategy for Magic Mile Media, co-launching The Pirate Pulse, a platform dedicated to ECU athletics. He also spent four years (2022–2025) contributing to Tar Heel Illustrated, covering UNC football and basketball, including events such as ACC Championships and the Bahamas Invitational.

“I am still fully committed to covering my local teams with Neuse News Sports,” Scott said. “But I’m also excited to work alongside a North Carolina legend in Deana King to help give the rest of the state the coverage it deserves.”

In addition to his media experience, Scott spent 10 years coaching high school football and track, further deepening his relationships within the prep sports community. His role with NCPreps will focus on providing consistent, in-depth content across platforms — including rankings, team features, recruiting notes, and extended subscriber-only articles.

“There’s a high level of talent across Eastern North Carolina, and this platform gives us a chance to tell those stories at scale,” Scott said.

This move aligns with a larger shift at Rivals and On3. As part of a new partnership, Yahoo Sports will take an ownership stake in On3’s parent company and play a key role in helping grow content and subscription-based services across the Rivals network.

NCPreps.com is part of the Rivals network under On3, a leading sports media and technology company focused on high school and college sports. Rivals delivers subscription content, rankings, and community discussion for fans and athletes across the country.R
