Top Team From Each Region: West 5-8

The first weekend of high school football is in the book here in North Carolina. NC Preps is giving out a special shoutout to a team in each of the eight regions of the NCHSAA.

REGION 5: RJ REYNOLDS DEMONS

The Demons opened the season against county foe North Forsyth and took a 35-0 win. The victory is the first ever at their new complex: M. Douglas Crater Stadium.

REGION 6: GARINGER WILDCATS

The Wildcats defeated the Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix by a score of 36-6. The win ended a 6-year 48-game losing streak. New coach Jupiter Wilson has the Wildcats headed into the right direction.

REGION 7: ALLEGHANY TROJANS

The Trojans are one of the smallest 2A programs in the west, but they went on the road and defeated 4A North Surry by the score of 27-20

REGION 8: BREVARD BLUE DEVILS

The Blue Devils made an impressive statement at home by defeating AC Reynolds, who is one of the best programs in western North Carolina. Brevard won the game 31-7 to become one of the teams to watch in the 4A division.
