CHARLOTTE — The American Athletic Conference is hosting its annual kickoff and media days, with this year’s festivities taking place at the Charlotte Convention Center.

OwlScoop.com caught up with Temple head coach K.C. Keeler Thursday afternoon to ask him about several topics with the Owls are less than a week away from next Wednesday’s practice at Chodoff Field, their first of preseason camp.

Keeler, the veteran head coach who won FCS national championships at Delaware and Sam Houston State before arriving in December to replace Stan Drayton, talked about why he elected to bring senior quarterback Evan Simon and senior defensive tackle Sekou Kromah with him to represent Temple in Charlotte, and he also talked about he and his coaching staff will arrive at the decision to select their starter at quarterback, be it Simon or transfer Gevani McCoy, who played at Oregon State last fall and spent the spring at Texas State before entering the portal again and choosing the Owls.
