Roman Catholic stars Ash Roberts and Eyan Stead commit to Temple

Temple picked up a pair of prominent local verbal commitments Wednesday from the 2026 class when Roman Catholic High School teammates Ash Roberts and Eyan Stead announced their decisions on social media.
Roberts and Stead both play wide receiver at Roman Catholic, but Stead is projected to play defensive back at the next level while Roberts is expected to play wideout, according to sources familiar with their recruitment.
“Stead and Roberts are fun players. Both just make plays in all three phases of the game,” said Rymir Vaughn, a former OwlScoop.com reporter who now covers high school sports for PennLive and the Harrisburg-Patriot News. “I think Temple fans will love Stead’s competitiveness and Roberts’ home-run ability.”
Roberts, who has caught 37 passes for 555 yards and eight touchdowns this season, had a number of Power Four offers early in his recruitment, including one he reported from Alabama back in May of 2023. He missed all of last season with a meniscus injury before bouncing back this season.
Stead, who had picked up offers from programs like Penn State, West Virginia and Indiana throughout the course of his recruitment, has 34 receptions for 433 yards and six touchdowns for a Roman team that is 6-3 heading into Friday’s game against Father Judge. The Cahillites have won their last two games since a 40-39 loss to St. Joe’s Prep back on Oct. 10 in which Roberts and Stead had monster games. Roberts caught seven passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns, while Stead hauled in 10 passes for 116 yards and two scores and logged four pass breakups and three tackles on defense.
With La Salle College High School’s John-Patrick Oates flipping from Temple to James Madison three days ago and Roberts and Stead announcing Wednesday, the Owls’ 2026 recruiting class currently stands at 24 public verbal commitments.
