Temple coach K.C. Keeler recently reached into the South Jersey high school ranks for his latest staff addition with the hiring of Malachi Timberlake.

Timberlake will serve as Temple’s assistant director of recruiting after spending the past three seasons as the head coach at Pleasantville High School in New Jersey. At Pleasantville, Timberlake took over a Greyhounds team that went winless in 2021 and led it to a 15–5 record over the course of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The team then went 2–8 in 2024.

A former defensive back, Timberlake played at Cedar Creek before spending two years at ASA College. Following his junior college career, the New Jersey native played two seasons at Division II Florida Tech. Timberlake then spent time as an assistant coach at Pleasantville and Cedar Creek before becoming the area’s youngest head coach when he took over the Greyhounds as a 23-year-old.

During his Pleasantville tenure, Timberlake produced more than 20 all-conference players, including Penn State signee Braz Thomas, Charlotte commit Alchino Blakely and Akron tight end Khalil Witherspoon. Pleasantville currently features Class of 2027 safety Semaj Dozier, who has received early offers from schools like Temple, Boston College, Syracuse and West Virginia.
