Terrez Worthy no longer on Temple's roster

Tailback Terrez Worthy no longer appears on Temple’s roster, and a source OwlScoop.com spoke with said Worthy is no longer with the team.

A Temple spokesperson confirmed late Wednesday afternoon that Worthy left the team due to personal reasons.

Worthy had 71 yards on 23 carries through four games. His best performance came in Temple’s rout of Howard in which he ran for 58 yards and a touchdown on six carries and also caught a 23-yard pass. Worthy carried six times for minus-4 yards at Georgia Tech this past Saturday, and his seven carries (for 10 yards) against Oklahoma were a season-high.

Worthy, who played his first two seasons at the junior college level at Lackawanna College, initially entered the NCAA’s transfer portal back in December when Temple dismissed former head coach Stan Drayton before he elected to return and play for new head coach K.C. Keeler.

In playing in just four games this season, Worthy would have the opportunity to preserve his redshirt for this season.

With Worthy gone, Temple will continue to lean on its leading rusher in Jay Ducker, who has tallied 315 yards and two touchdowns and averaged 6.3 yards per carry through four games, and Louisiana-Monroe transfer Hunter Smith would appear to be next in line to take on some of the carries vacated by Worthy. Smith logged 33 yards on six carries at Georgia Tech last Saturday and had 80 yards on eight carries against Howard, with 65 coming on one run.
