Capel, Dunning and Siulepa Break Down Pitt's Stunning Loss to Quinnipiac

PITTSBURGH — It looked like a career day by freshman forward Roman Siulepa would be just what Pitt needed to pull off a second-half comeback over Quinnipiac but after the Bobcats figured out how to limit him, they pulled away from the Panthers en route to an 83-75 win at the Petersen Events Center.
Siulepa led the Panthers with 20 points, eight rebounds, four steals and an assist on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting performance. He previous career high was just 12 points. Siulepa managed to score that in just the first half in the loss to Quinnipiac.
Not only did the Bobcats manage to spoil Siulepa’s game, they snapped a Panthers’ winning streak over non-power conference opponents that dated back to December of 2021.
Pitt head coach Jeff Capel, along with Siulepa and Barry Dunning Jr., spoke about the stunning loss after the game and talked about the defensive issues that led to the nearly 60% shooting performance by Quinnipiac.
