Central Catholic's James Halter Selects Notre Dame

Central Catholic’s James Halter becomes the latest WPIAL standout to make the decision to play his college football elsewhere.
The 2027 4-star offensive tackle announced on Wednesday his decision to end his recruitment and commitment to Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame.
Halter’s recruitment over the last calendar year skyrocketed as much as any player in the WPIAL as he held offers from Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Boston College, Michigan State, Rutgers, North Carolina, Duke, Nebraska, NC State, Kentucky Indiana, West Virginia, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Auburn and Minnesota.
Rivals ranks Halter (6’5″, 270-pounds) as the nation’s No. 8 interior offensive lineman and the No. 154 overall prospect in the Class of 2027.
Halter’s family has a tie to the Fighting Irish football program as his father played for Notre Dame in the early 1990’s. James was in South Bend Saturday evening for Notre Dame’s game against USC.
This 2025 Central Catholic football team is stockpiled with Power 4 prospects. Here are the current players that are either committed already to a Power 4 school or hold offers.
