Duquesne MBB Goes Wire To Wire In Bounce Back Win
From the opening tip, the Duquesne Men’s Basketball Team had its composure early and often Wednesday night at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, ultimately emerging victorious 92-78.
Duquesne (4-1) had a quartet of players achieve double figures led by John Hugley IV‘s 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Both Cam Crawford and Tarence Guinyard each achieved 19 points and David Dixon 10 points.
Jakub Necas matched a career high set earlier this year against St. Bonaventure with his 10 rebounds. As a team Duquesne won the rebounding battle 39-25 and fastbreak points 26-10. The Dukes also were able to shoot 55.2% from the field.

Duquesne raced out to an 11-2 lead within the first couple of minutes with Hugley responsible for nine of said points. His effort included a three-point shot, his fourth such make this season.
The Greyhounds would take more time to get into the game, turning a 16-point deficit into six to silence the Duquesne faithful, but the closing minutes saw the Dukes find some form. Dixon’s fastbreak dunk had the hosts up 47-36 at halftime.
Duquesne led by double digits for the entire second half, but a 21-point lead, paid off by a Crawford triple off Jimmie Williams’s third assist of the night keyed the 12-2 run.
From an injury perspective, Jake DiMichele dressed and participated in warmups for the second consecutive game but did not see the court.
Duquesne will next play Northeastern Saturday in its yearly contest held in Akron, a tipoff slated for 4 p.m.
